I would like to set up a scyn schedule so that my dropbox updates during the evening at my office and pauses in the morning.
Is there a way that I can do this?
I understand the need to have Dropbox make automatic updates as needed, but it would be good to have an option to delay and reschedule the update when internet connections are unmetered, fast enough etc. If the automatic updater could be set to provide an alert when it needs to be updated and an option for rescheduling within a time window (rather than just turning updates off) that would be a big improvment for me.
There are situation where it necessary to be able to "pause" syncing for a period of time or until resumed/rebooted.
One such situation is during system backups, where Dropbox and the backup software writing to the Dropbox folder are thrashing the hard drive--making both the backups AND the syncing take far longer than necessary.
Two options would be helpful for this: 1) Being able to SCHEDULE times when syncing is automatically paused (e.g., during the backup window).2) Being able to issue a Windows command to temporarily pause syncing for a period of time.Manually pausing syncing is fine for an occasional time when a person is at the computer and knows to do that--but it's not useful for scheduled events (e.g., backups) that occur unattended and at odd hours). This causes backups to run longer, syncs to run longer, and the result is a nearly unusable computer for up to several hours. Pausing Dropbox during this window then having it resume after the backup will allow everything to work much more smoothly.
It would be amazing to have a scheduled sync option. Specifically on the desktop app. I have masses amount of data that I need to sync every day and not the best internet speed. Letting it run its course during the day boggs down our bandwidth and makes doing normal tasks excruciatingly painful. Having the option to shedule a synced day(s) and time(s) to begin syncing and pausing would be greatly beneficial and appreciated.
Some options I would like to see:
- sync only at night.
- sync only during non-prime time hours.
- sync every 1 hour to reduce constant network traffic.
- sync every 1 minute to eliminate sharing conflicts with Office files, Adobe files, and temp files.
