Track time spent working in a folder

Is there a way to track time spent working on files inside folders?

would use as project tracking

time tracking is an excellent idea. i need to know how much time i spend on certain projects and this would be an EXCELLENT way to do without having to do it manually. of course it would have to be intelligently set up to understand when you are accessing certain files
