Turn off low space notifications

I've been almost out of Dropbox space for months and months. I'm okay with that, because I've never actually run out. However, Dropbox opens a persistent notification about this every time I open my laptop or change a file on another computer. It's very annoying to see them several times a day. There should be an option for turning off low space notifications.

Yes please! I do not plan on removing any files from my dropbox, and do not plan on increasing the size of my dropbox to a crazy amount. So, I get this very annoying notification to upgrade my dropbox to a riducoulous size, I dont even have that kind of room on my hard drive. And everytime it pops up, I wonder if I actually need my dropbox account since that notification is so annoying. Although, If there was a smaller option I could purchase for an extra 10 gigs, maybe I would actually consider following the suggestion in the notification. But 12 bucks a month is too much to pay just to get rid of a dumb notificiation, when all I need is an extra 5-10 gigs of space. Not 1000gigs.

I hope someone can address this annoying spam with either a fix, or a cheap couple dollars a month way to get rid of it.

I have been using 90% of my quota for more than one year now and really don't need to upgrade. Please find a way to configure this alert. It's beyond annoying and useless.

I have earned space, and have my DB around 90%, but with 2,5 GB free, and get constant messages, popups, spam like thinks all the time about running out of space, are you kidding??? I have free more that what dropbox offers in the first place, I would suggest to start spamming when 500 megas are left and not at a hard percentage... it's ridiculous!

I keep getting messages that I need to upgrade my account as I am running out of space.  I remove 2/3rds of my data and am still being harrased to upgrade. What do I do about this?

There is no way to stop these messages Im afraid.

It has been requested before so I'm moving this over to 'feature requests'

it is worst than just the messages, someone tried to share a folder with me and dropbox is not letting me see what they want me to see unless I upgrade.  And I do not want to upgrade, I let too many dead files accumulate and I cleaned it up.  So how do I get my account back to normal without upgrading as I do not need to upgrade?

Hey there @slegraw - sorry to hear that.

Generally speaking, if your Dropbox account is over quota then only syncing stops (OK , you would get the notifications you mentioned as well). Nothing will be removed and the syncing process will resume when you bring your account under quota again.

To get your account under quota you can do any of the following ( other than upgrading your account as you don't need that):

  1. Increase your quota using referrals bonuses or other promotions.
  2. Leave any shared folders that put you over quota.
  3. Move files that don't need to sync out of your Dropbox folder.

I hope this helps @slegraw

EDIT: I forgot to add that you could also have them share a link to the folder instead. With this link you'd be able to view the contents, but  not edit them.

How do I get Dropbox to stop putting notices daily on the right hand corner of my main screen saying that my dropbox is nearly full? This has been going on for months and it requires that I have to click "close". Nothing else does this in such an annoying way.

Thank you.
