From my understanding ...

the only way the find "a comment on a image" is to open each image one by one is that correct?

This is very time consuming and frustrating as I would have to go trough many many images , is there a better solution?

cheers

Hey there @EliotHazel

You’re right in that currently there isn’t a way to search comments or files that have been commented on. I’d be more than happy to pass along your comments to our dev team for review, and have moved your post to the "Share an idea" section so we can track your comments!

In the meantime, if you have any other questions or feedback about this then please let me know - Thanks!

When I have a client reviewing hundreds of photos from a photoshoot, it's ridiculously time-consuming for me to click through each image to see if it has comments.  There needs to be a way for users to filter just the files that have comments.

please make this happen. Super frustrating to open each eamill sperartely.
Grinds work flow to a halt.
I feel like I'd rather share a sreen with a client and go through with them rather than the back and forth of readimg email > opening dropbox > going to original file and tagging

My client has just gone through and commented on 50 videos out of the 100 or so I provided to her.  True, this appears in my notifications on the bottom right of my toolbar. However, because it's contained in this tiny window in the bottom right I can't see the full file name that's been commented on.  So then I have to double click the file and open it in the browser just to see which file has been commented on.  Is there some good reason I can't see this list on dropbox.com vs exclusively in my notifications window in the bottom right? Ideally in a format that I could read the entire file name without having to separately open 50 browser windows to see my clients notes?

If this could have checkboxes that I could personally mark as read or unread that would be great as well (as opposed to how currently dropbox notifications automatically marks it as read once it's been double-clicked on).

I get that we already get the list of notifications in the toolbar and that I already get them in a list on my phone. I just can't read the names of the files in either situation so the notification only does me as good as knowing that I have a notification, but not anything more tangible than that.

I'm hardly the first person to have brought this issue up, and I'm sorry but I would argue that the problem has not been "solved" as it's listed in these discussions (https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/sorting-images-by-comments/m-p/252286https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/View-a-list-of-files-that-have-comments/td-p/2...https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Which-files-have-comments-Easy-way-to-see-this...) since in every case the first thing the "accepted solution" says is it's not possible or currently available.

I will note that the email notifications that we get for every comment is helpful and does largely ameliorate the issue.   But is there no easy way we can get a list of these on the website as well? Just as a simple tab next to file requests, deleted files, etc?

Thanks.

Bumping this up, following my recent submission in the forum: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/How-to-view-ALL-comments

Having a comments feature sounds great, but with no way to search or see them laid out in the website, for me defeats the entire purpose of having comments at all. It only goes half the way of serving its purpose.

I'm now regretting instructing my client to submit comments through Dropbox on the hundreds of photos I shared with them. The reasons are the same as the people above have detailed, so I won't go into it again.

The comments feature is ok if you're working on a single file and need to have a conversation about it with whoever you shared it with.

But for a photographer sharing hundreds of files, you've got to stay away from it as it's simply inefficient and you'll end up wasting way more time than what you should.

Adding my own two cents, its wild to me that this feature doesn't exist already. Even if comments counted as "updates," so if you sort by "last updated" you get the files that have comments on them at the top. Or just add the most recent comment as a column.

Agree with what’s been said above - this should be a very high priority for Dropbox. Inability to conveniently filter files, pics, etc, based on whether a comment has been added (plus ability to further filter for date of comment, user that made the comment, etc.) is a major drawback to your service. Maybe Ackerman can get this sorted...

Please fix this problem.  It's unthinkable that we can't filter our files to show only files with comments.
