I need to generate a list of files in a dropbox folder that I can sort in a text editor offline and send to a user. How do I do this? I can't even figure out how to select and copy the list from the Files view.
Oh yeah that's a good idea. I don't keep dropbox synched with my local machine as I don't have the spare disk space (on Windows). Too bad about the web interface though.
My workflow: I send a link to a DB folder with many image files (let’s say 500) to a client. I need the client to “check/select” the specific images that she needs me to pull and edit (let’s say 35). She and I need a simple way to generate a list of the 35 selects. I use the list to pull those images in third party software (in my case, Lightroom). Currently I have to ask my client to copy/paste file names in to an email or otherwise “manually” assemble this list which is awkward and unprofessional. With the current ability to Checkmark multiple files in a folder, it seems a simple request to generate a list of the Checkmarked file names in that folder. Ideally the list could be sent to me via email or within DB. If I can copy/paste a comma separated list in to the Search field on Lightroom would be ideal.
This list of selects is something that every photographer needs. I'm honestly surprised the ability to do this in DB doesn't exist already. It seems such a logical and simple to code addition. I can check mark images already. I just want a list of file names of those selected images.
I would like the ability to be able to export a list of folders in my dropbox account, including the directory path for each folder. This is helpful when trying to get a high-level view of everything in my Dropbox account. It also looks like Box already has something like this: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043698274-Exporting-Folder-Trees
I have an idea for a new feature that I believe will add value to Dropbox.
The idea is to have the ability to create and print an index and sub-indexes for a given Dropbox and the sub-folders.
I spend a good creating an index to my folders, whereas I believe it can be a feature in Dropbox. You can check for example any of my folders (e.g. anything that starts with N+P) and you can see the file that starts with serial number 0.
I am only a user and not a programmer. Therefore, I can't share how to develop the idea.
Don't forget me if you like the idea and you are going to develop it 🙂
My suggestion is to add an ability to export folders from my Dropbox account to my mobile phone. Current functionality only allows for exporting files, but not folders. In my case, I have thousands of songs in my Dropbox account and I would like to move them to my mobile phone, but moving them individually would have an adverse effect on my logevity.
It would have been nice if Scott I.75 above would have given the directions on how to access DB via my Windows OS. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance of your answers. Trace
