First, dropbox was free. Now, it's free with a catch. If you want it to work correctly, you have to do things their way, not how you've been working for , oh, maybe 11 years. I don't keep any contacts in gmail although I do use gmail as my primary email account, although I only use it via Apple Mail. Ok, I have an iMac, two iPhones, and an iPad. Why not use the contacts from Apple? Great idea. Hey, Dropbox won't import from Apple. Why Not?
Indeed, WHY NOT?
I refuse to export my contacts from Apple Contacts, into whatever form Gmail can then import them. Is that even an option? I'm certainly not going to search for it. Anyway, after getting them into gmail, I then have to maintain TWO contact lists. Apple and GMAIL. Not gonna happen.
So, I'm not about to upgrade and pay real money to Dropbox Pro when they refuse to honor whatever system of contacts you use with your computer. That would be the height of stupidity.
