A member of a shared folder doesn't have the current version of the files. What do we do?

we just have two people in our office and my computer shows docs/files updated as of today... the other person here only has about half the folders and shows docs last updated mid December... therefore, it seems we are not syncing since he cannot access the files that I can (mine matches the web dropbox, his does not).  How can I make sure we're syncing properly?  or Sharing properly, etc.

Hi there @Sheila3, thanks for checking in with us!

You are right, it does sound like the other user's desktop app isn't syncing, since the files don't match the website.

Could you please ask them to check what the Dropbox icon (that's next to their computer's clock) shows when they hover over it?

If they don't see it, it means that the desktop app isn't running at all and they'll have to manually relaunch it from their applications menu.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for getting back to me, @Sheila3

If they see that the desktop app is up to date, could you also ask them to check if their content in their Dropbox folder matches the website?

Could you also make sure that the email address that you're sharing the folder with is the same as the one they've associated their Dropbox account with?

They can have a look at which email they've connected their account to from:

  • Website - your General tab in your Settings.
  • Desktop app - Dropbox icon > avatar icon > Preferences > Account tab.

Let me know what you find!
