App keeps "starting" and "Updating dropbox account"

I decided to update my Dropbox account to a Business one. I am assuming this has nothing to do with my problem, but just in case I thought it worth while to mention. I noticed that my desktop app wasn't syncing properly so I uninstalled and downloaded the latest version an re-installed it. Now nothing happens. When clicking on the icon on the actionbar (windows 10) it says "Dropbox 43.4.50 Updating Dropbox Account". This never finishes. I have tried unlinking the dropbox account, reinstalling it yet again but no change. I can enter the Dropbox preference menu and navigate through it but can't access commands such as "Selective Sync". No Dropbox folder appears on the desktop either. Any ideas why a clean installation wont work?

I'm still convinced its a settings issue on your device, but, as Advanced hasnt worked I suggest logging a ticket at www.dropbox.com/support and asking for help.

You can then track it at http://dropbox.zendesk.com

Updating doesnt do a 'full' reinstall so can I ask you try https://www.dropbox.com/help/desktop-web/advanced-reinstall and see if that helps?

Hi!

 

Thanks for the quick answer. Tried the advanced install, but same issue. I can't do anything with selecting folders to sync. I get the login pop up window, and use my google account to login. But then nothing happens. If doesn't feel like a waiting game of having dropbox finish its update. It even did that once, but then remained the same.

I tried login into dropbox via logindetails instead of signing in via google login, and it seems as if the sign-in process is never quite finished. My best guess right now is that for whatever reason this is where the problem lies. If dropbox doesnt login properly it makes sense that the rest of the menu options aren't activated.
