Camera Uploads don't work unless I turn it off and on again

Explorer | Level 3

I have a GS9 (Android and can't get Camera Uploads working reliably.  If I take a picture and then open the DB app, I can go to the Photos section and nothing will show up as uploading to the cloud.  The only way I can get it to sync is to go into settings and turn Camera Uploads off and on again and then it will find the photos and upload them.

Anyone know if there's a setting within Android or something that I need to change so dropbox starts working properly?

First thing we would like to check is that the basic steps have been taken.

Could you make sure that camera uploads is enabled?  Does this only occur on WiFi or did you try uploading using cellular data?

As you mentioned you are running the new Android OS, it’s possible that Camera Uploads can only work with Dropbox in the foreground. When the app is put in the background (in other words, you’re actively looking at some other app instead of Dropbox), Dropbox can only run Camera Uploads for a short time. After this, Android stops the process to save battery on your device.

Have you already tried deleting the app and reinstalling it?

Is your phone plugged in to power?

Check if there is any kind of battery saver mode on your Android and see if you can exclude Dropbox from it.

Let me know if this helps!

Automatic Camera Uploads Not Working - Galaxy S8

Explorer | Level 3

Over the last month or so Dropbox has not automatically uploaded the pictures, I take with my phone.

I have to manually deactivate/activate camera upload, in the App, to trigger the upload.

I have App-version 88.2.2 running on my Samsung Galaxy S8 (Android 8.0.0).

I have tried clearing cache, reinstalling the app, updating the Dropbox program on my laptop, checked that Dropbox App is allowed to run as background activity.

Running out of ideas

 Any suggestions?

This is not solved!
I use iPad Pro and pictures are being saved form let’s say snapchat to the gallery but Dropbox will only start the uploading as soon as I switch to it (even for 1 sec) then works automatically for 1 min and stops.
Everything is updated (Sept 2nd 201, all permissions are on! Battery above 15% and I even gave the iPad a good luck kiss.
How can you make Dropbox keep working in the background??? Why is it taking so long to allow a refresh of an app on the ipad? Android works fine.

@shaysilver

The issue you posted on is solved. Your issue is totally separate. This post is about Android devices, not iPhones.

I suggest finding an iOS thread to post on for assistance, or, logging a ticket with support via www.dropbox.com/support and track at http://dropbox.zendesk.com

Not solved for iPhone but I solved it using Siri Shortcuts.

Just save your photos on the phone and not on your sd memory card and the problem of uploading automatically will be solved.
