Camera Uploads transferring useless/undesired elements

Camera Uploads transferring useless/undesired elements

Hi,

Camera Uploads uploads absolutely all videos / photos that my cell phone has, whether they are taken by my device, or are received by whatsapp or other applications, including memes. This loads a lot of useless stuff to Dropbox... How can I upload ONLY the elements that I take with my cell phone?

Thanks!

I'm sorry, this won't be possible @generalgorf.

In case this isn't optimal for your needs, you can disable the camera uploads feature and manually upload only the files you like by using the (+) button from within the app.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi @generalgorf - welcome to our Community and sorry to hear you're having issues with our automatic camera uploads feature.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, could you clarify if you're using camera uploads from the mobile app, rather than the desktop Camera Uploads feature?

Put another way, are you only using your mobile device, or is you computer involved also? If only mobile, what kind of mobile do you have? An Android one or an iPhone?

Feel free to include any additional information you think might help look into the matter at hand please. Thank you!

Hi Walter

thanks for the quick reply. I am using it on my Android mobile phone (Huawei P20 pro), hence the problem with other pics/videos files which somehow land in the devices pictures folder and are then sent  to Dropbox.

Cheers

Thanks for the additional info there @generalgorf!

The automatic camera upload feature uploads all photos and videos from the "Camera" and "Screenshots" albums on your device and you cannot specify which folder(s) the feature uploads from at this moment.

Your best bet here would be to find a way to point the 3rd party apps you're using to save their media files in another location on your Android device (internal storage or SD). This would prevent the camera uploads feature from uploading them.

I hope this helps to some extent and I'm always a post away if you have any more questions.

Thanks a lot @Walter! I have redefined the destination folders, we'll see what happens. Is there any way to shut down he screenshot upload, or make them go to the Screenshot folder in Dropbox instead of Cameera uploads?

No, that's not possible. To Dropbox, it's a photo. Dropbox doesn't know that it's just a screenshot.
