Hello Team,
I have a Question in regards to the DropBox App for the IPAD 2.
I had Wiped all Contents on the IPAD 2 (IOS 9.3.5) to do a Fresh install and to free up Space.
With the Clean Install I tried to install the DropBox App but the system reports that I need to have IOS 10 installed. which is not possible for the IPAD 2.
is there a way that I can get Dropbox back to work on this IPAD
It used to work fine before under the IOS 9.3.5
Thansk in advance
Kind regards,
Hai Faessen
Hi @hai_faessen, That is strange! I can confirm you that I am able to download the older version of Dropbox app on iOS 9.3.5. My Apple ID is used in another device running iOS 10.3.3 where I have installed the latest version of the Dropbox app. I have not upgraded to iOS 11, so cannot check, but I belive it should work.
Can you please restart your iPad? Then open up the App Store. Tap on Purchased tab. Let the list load. Find the Dropbox app, you shoud see a Download icon next to Dropbox (Cloud sign with a downward arrow). Click the Download icon. It should show you the following screen:

Hello Jane,
Thank you for the information.
I understand that DropBox is updating their apps on frequent bases however would there not be a possibilit, the same as with the Windows Users to be able to Install a Previous version of the APP.
TI think this would benefit more users which are running with older Systems and which are not able to Update to a Newer OS.
As mentioned Apple IOS 10 is Not Supported on the IPAD 2 so It limites me to only get connected via a webbrowser to my dropbox which is not Ideal
Kind regards,
Hai Faessen

Hey @hai_faessen, You should be able to install the previous compatible version of the Dropbox app (which is version 96.2.4) in iOS 9.3.5 if you previously downloaded the app. Just open the App Store, login with your Apple ID in case you have not already, then go to the Purchased tab, there you will see list of apps that you have previously purchased/downloaded. Find out the Dropbox app, and click the download button. It will show you a warning "Download an older version of this app?", click Download. It should work just fine, though you will not receive newer updates/features. You said it used to work fine with iOS 9.3.5 before, so I assume you downloaded the app before. Use that particular Apple ID to download the app again.
Hello Elixir,
Well that would be a Problem. the reason for that is that I have Moved the Original Account for the IPPAD 2 to the new IPAD 2018
and have installed all apps zo they are updated with the New Release for IOS 11.3.
I just logged in with that accound on the IPAD 2 and the old dropbox version is not in the list anymore only version 102.2
Is there another way in getting the previous release
thanks in advance
Kind regards,
Hai Faessen
Hi @hai_faessen, I think you shold still be able to download the previous version. Can you please login with your Apple ID which you used previously to download the Dropbox app in iOS 9.3.5 and try?
Hello Elixir,
I just signed out with the new Apple ID and logged in with the old Apple ID on the Ipad 2.
when i browse thur the installed Apps to locate Dropbox it tells me the version 102.2 and when I download it from the cloud it reports this app needs IOS 10 installed.
As mentioned I moved the old Apple ID to the New IPAD 2018 in which the Apps are updated to work with IOS 11.3
so I cannot go Back.
there should be a solution in place that versions of app's in this case drobox could be identiefied to run on older versions of OS
Kind regards,
Hai Faessen
