I've been using the same spreadsheet in dropbox for years, suddenly, today, the buttons at the top in the toolbar are no longer visible. There is something called "simplified ribbon" in the upper-right but you can't click on it and move it to the left. I can type in the spreadsheet but there is no options to do ANYTHING....change the font color, highlight anything, any formulas. Nothing. I've got a screenshot below:
I've tried different spreadsheets. I've uploaded different spreadsheets, ALL Excel docs are acting this way. I'm using a MacBook Pro, Mojave version 10.14.6. I've tried it on my other MBP and same result, that MBP is running the same OS.
I CAN type text in cells, and when I "Save & Return to Dropbox" then reopen, it saves the text, but I can't do anyting else.
HELP!! THere has to be some preference or setting that changed but I can't figure it out!
I have the same issue; I won't be able to use it anymore like this.

Thank you! I assumed that something had to have changed overnight but couldn't figure it out. I've been running Office 2011 and I have wanted to update that knowing that there are compatibility issues and they'd only get worse. I finally purchased Office 365 (69/yr) last night and installed it and everything is working fine now.
I didn't think to try Chrome instead of Safari - maybe the other person above having the same issue can try that and avoid having to buy Office 365 like I did?
Thanks again for the quick reply!
Tim
The issue appears be to resolved today; the toolbox has returned. It is not exactly the same as the one I've been using for years, but this slightly different one showed up earlier this week - but it will work. I had tried different browsers but was getting ready to migrate to google pages if it hadn't!
