Can't reconnect old folder after re-install

Explorer | Level 3

Hi, I had to reinstall the dropbox app. 

After the installation I tried reconecting the dropbox folder via the Advance Options menu I choose the parent folder that contains all the dropbox files and then I got this message.

 

Any help or should I re-download everything?

Hey @Voice, I'd be more than happy to help!

I'll just need to clarify a few details, such as:

  • Are you trying to sign in to your Business account on the desktop app?
  • Do you have a personal Dropbox folder installed in that same path?
  • Did you select a previously installed Business Dropbox folder with the same name?

Any additional info would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi Lusil.

- Yes it's a bussines account

- I used to have a personal Dropbox folder on the same path but I have deleted it

- I didn't select the Business Dropbox folder but the parent folder. Meaning I selected the folder that includes the original business dropbox folder.

Thanks for getting back to me, @Voice

If you're selecting the relevant path (eg. C:\Desktop) where the Dropbox folder is in and you're connecting with the same account as before, it should detect the existing folder and prompt you to merge them. In this case, you can click on the "rename" option to complete the reinstallation - that should do the trick.
