Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: Dropbox (Fedora 30)

Explorer | Level 4

Currently, the dropbox.repo file on my systems running CentOS have this as the source: baseurl=http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/$releasever/

The

$releaseserver

variable returns 30 as you can see below:

$ python3 -c 'import dnf, pprint; db = dnf.dnf.Base(); pprint.pprint(db.conf.substitutions,width=1)'
{'arch': 'x86_64',
 'basearch': 'x86_64',
 'releasever': '30'}

When I update my packages I get the following error:

$ sudo dnf update -y
Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: Dropbox
Ignoring repositories: Dropbox
Last metadata expiration check: 0:13:25 ago on Mon 13 May 2019 11:05:01 PM CEST.
Dependencies resolved.
Nothing to do.
Complete!

As a workaround I can manually insert the releaseserver of the previous version e.g. 29. Sample below:

[Dropbox]
name=Dropbox Repository
# baseurl=http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/$releasever/
baseurl=http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/29/
gpgkey=https://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/rpm-public-key.asc

I found this solution from a previously asked question Yum repositories for Red Hat Enterprise and clones .

On the same question I read that your reply was:

"However, since we only officially support Fedora and Ubuntu distros, and not CentOS, I can’t guarantee they’ll be able to do so."

Should we wait an update from you regarding this issue or should we manually update the repo on the next release?

Hi @Thanos1983,

I don't think that You should care about OS release number. Probably this number is some of many inconsistent 'features'! If You see all OS related subfolder, they contain the same files set. Just take care the number, You set, to stay in supported Ferora releases set. That's it. (29 is good choice )

Hey there @Thanos1983  - how are you today?

As CentOS is not actually supported at the moment, could you check if you get the same results on an officially supported distro per the page below?

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there!

Hello @Walter,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Maybe my explanation was not so clear from the beggining. I am running a FedoraOS 30.

Currently I have hardcoded the $release value to 29 (saple below):

baseurl=http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/29/

I works just fine with this but if I modify the value to 30 e.g. my $release then I get the error previously stated. Is this a common issue for the new Fedora $release?

Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Hello @Здравко,

I think the same. I will keep it for the moment as 29. Thanks for confirming my idea.
