Cannot sign-in to Dropbox on MacBook Pro

 I am unable to sign in to Dropbox on my MacBook Pro ans always waiting to be linked to a Dropbox account. Click on Sign In option but no response.

I contacted tech support via the above and received an automated response telling me to consult the forum. We used to call that an endless loop.

I uninstalled DropBox (dragged to trash), deleted \Library\DropboxHelperTools and all info in ~\.dropbox. Emptied trash. Restarted computer erasing PRAM. Did a REPAIR PERMISSIONS in UTILITY. Restarted computer. Downloaded fresh copy of DropBox. Installed. Icon in tool tray. Click on it. It says, "Click here to sign in and get started". Click. Nothing happens. Box stays greyed out.
