Cannot start on Macbook

On a Macbook Air we had to do a clean install of MacOS 11.6, then restore the profile from Time Machine. Dropbox will not start and throws a long error message ending with " File "desktop/extensions/nucleus/nucleus_python.pyx", line 76, in nucleus_python.NucleusSyncEngine.__cinit__
nucleus_python.SyncEngineError: "Initializing engine |>> Initializing filesystem |>> Attempting to register icons |>> Opening dst |>> open syscall |>> Permission denied""

 

The Dropbox folder in the user's profile has good permissions. I trashed the program in Applications and downloaded a fresh copy. Same message. Suggestions?

I would suggest doing an Advanced Install described here: https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/advanced-reinstall
