Cant open excel online

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

I have been using Dropbox business for some time now, during which I easily have been able to open excel documents online thorugh dropbox. Suddenly, however, I am not able to do so anymore.

When I try it just opens a clean page with no content at all.

Can you help?

Hey there @JulieNorring

I'd be more than happy to help!

As a first step, could you please confirm if you've tried opening the file from another browser or an incognito/private window?

If you have, could you clarify for me if this happens to any other file type by any chance?

Let me know what you find!

Hey Lusil,

Thanks for you reply.

I tried opening it in an incognito window, and now I'm getting the message: "To edit business documents you'll need a commercial Office 365 subscription".

This has, however, not been an issue before. So I'm unsure what has changed.

Thanks for getting back to me, @JulieNorring

Since you mention that you have a Dropbox Business plan, you will need to have a Microsoft account with a license that allows editing in Office Online (Business, Business Essentials, Business Premium, ProPlus, E1, E3, E4, or E5).

You can find more info about this here

However, if you have one of those licenses and you're still unable to edit files, please let me know. Thanks!

I am unsure if I have one of those licenses. But it has been working fine until last week, and I have not changed account or anything.

I'd very much appreciate if you could check up on, which other possible reasons there might be.

Thanks.

Julie

I completely understand, but in this case, you'll have to contact Microsoft for more info regarding whether you have a license and, if you do, which one.

Let me know of any updates, @JulieNorring!
