I want to embed PowerPoint presentations in Canvas LMS straight from Dropbox. When I open a presentation via Dropbox in the PowerPoint web app, go to File > Share > Embed, the preview in the dialogue box doesn't show and says 'www.dropbox.com refused to connect'. When I go ahead and paste the embed code anyway in Canvas, I get the same message.
Thank you for advising me on how to get the embed code to work.
I'm not exactly sure what you'd like to accomplish; could you walk me through the exact steps you take to do this so I can advise further?
While we're at it, are both of the 3rd party apps, namely Canvas LMS and PowerPoint, connected to your Dropbox account? Can you take a look at your Connected/Default Apps tab and let me know if you see them listed there?
A screenshot of the exact error you get would also help so feel free to include one in your next reply, Iris.
Thanks for your quick reply! Powerpoint is connected to Dropbox. So is Canvas, but in a different way: from Canvas I can add documents directly from Dropbox (see included screenshot), in Canvas the connection with Dropbox has been set up by the school administrator. Do I still need to set it up from Dropbox to Canvas? When I try to add Canvas in the app center and enter the domain name, I get the message 'Something has gone wrong at our end' (translation from Dutch).
Anyhow, these are the detailed steps I take to get the embed code:
I go to Dropbox online
I navigate to a PowerPoint file and open it in 'PowerPoint for the web'
I go to File > Share > Embed (I then already see the error in the preview: see screenshot)
I then copy the embed code, put it in the html-editor in Canvas and I get the same error.
