I am a Canvas administrator and i am trying to embed a video from dropbox which just wont play.

Am i doing something wrong?

I have uploaded the video on my Dropbox account and embeded it on my Canvas page via the insert/edit media.

Sounds like a browser loading issue.

Both links worked for me. Please try opening the link in another browser or an incognito window. Do you get the same result?

Let us know.

Thanks!

I'm assuming you're using a Share Link to do this? If so, and assuming it's even possible at all, you'll want to change the link so it ends with ?raw=1 instead of ?dl=0.

Links ending in ?dl=0 will produce a preview page, rather than link directly to the file.

Hi Fiona,

I was hoping that we could laterally expand upon this solution a bit. I am having the same problem and I'm not seeing the solution.  The embedded video doesn't load.  It leaves an empty frame.  And when I loaded it on an incognito page, it DID load... which was exciting... but as far as site traffic is concered, it doens't actually fix the problem.  Traffic on the site doesn't want to troubleshoot, they want to watch videos.  If a video doesn't load, they will scroll on... they won't think about reloading the page in incognito mode.

Is there any way to get the video to load normally in browser?  The browser in question is Chrome, so it's a good percentage of traffic.

Hey @Bmitche2, thanks for nudging us on this thread.

Out of curiosity, does this happen with any browser you use? Are you by any chance running a third party extension or plugin in your browser that you're having trouble with?

Let us know what you find, cheers!
