Conflicted copies on iOS

Explorer | Level 4

I am experiencing a problem with Dropbox on iOS when working in Pages. I am experiencing a situation in which I get multiple conflicted copies of the document I am working on.

Generally, what happens is that I close the file, and get a message indicting that the file is unavailable because it was "deleted in another location", with the option to "try again" on the file browser. When I click this it reloads the directory, with multiple conflicted copies now in the folder.

This is a new phenomenon over the past few days - I am using app version 74.3.2, and I have Dropbox integrated with the Files app.

Hey again, @ErinJWade

Sorry for the late reply. I’m not sure how to go about solving this, or if it’s in fact an issue with our app. It may be a good idea to submit a support request so one of our agents can investigate a bit further with you, and then get your case to our specialists for review, if necessary. I don’t know if they’ll be able to fix this, but it will be good to make them aware of the situation.

Thanks, and happy holidays!

Hey @ErinJWade, welcome to our community!

There’s a newer version of our app available (76.2), so go ahead and update, and see if the issue persists.

If it does, I would try taking the Files app out of the equation, and see if it helps.

Let me know.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the response.

I actually noticed the update a little while after I posted, and have since updated.

The problem persists.

The issue does not occur using Pages with files that are stored in iCloud, and it does not occur with every document. It is possible that it is happening specifically with documents that have been opened or edited by multiple people, as I cannot get it to replicate on a test document that only I have worked on.

I can always take Files out of the equation by copying the file into Pages and working on it in that way. However, this loses the option of saving in place and also sets up a situation in which I ultimately have copies in multiple locations when I move the file back to Dropbox (one in iCloud and one in Dropbox), which is a thing the Files app integration finally solved.
