I already been through all the self help advice, deleted and reinstalled dropbox app all to no avail.

Any help to solve this would be much appreciated.

Hey @EricW1, happy Monday!

Sorry to hear about your start-up error. Let's look into this.

Can you try the steps shown here, and let me know what the results are?

Thank you, keep me posted.

Hi Lori,

Thanks for your reply,

I have definitely got a permissions error and have been through all the self help you have suggested now and previously, particularly the Command Prompt lines which have not worked I'm still getting the "Couldn't start drobox" error.

To be clear I can only initiate opening Dropbox from the start menu and thereafter Dropbox won't open issuing the error message, the system tray icon is removed as soon as I remove the error message, so any troubleshooting involving the system tray icon is useless.

I have removed and reinstalled Dropbox to no avail. I suspect I'm going to have to reinstall windows but I don't want to do that unless absolutely necessary as the machine in question is used in my business and holds records of occupational tests I cannot risk losing.

Thank you for letting me know more @EricW1

Can we try an Advanced re-install, please?

That should do the trick for you. If not, I'm always here.
