Couldn't start dropbox

Couldn't start dropbox

Explorer | Level 4

I've just changed my username for my macbook pro, and logged in for the first time with my new username, and now dropbox won't launch.  I can see that it's 'looking' for the old folder and not the newly named user folder but don't know how to make it look in the new place!!   Basically I've replaced mallett with blackburn but don't know how to tell dropbox this is what i've done

It tells me to contact support and gives this info

Hi @LJB1,

You have made a mistake, which many users are doing, probably because not very well explained in Dropbox documentation. When you plane significan change in your system, like that you have made, it's good idea (not to say mandatory) unlink your application in advance and relink the application back to your account when changes got done. Now, because settings got broken as a result of changes done, you have to unlink forcibly your application using following (executed in terminal):

rm -rf ~/.dropbox

Next you will be able link back the application to your account. 😉

Hope this helps.

Thank you but unfortunately I am a very basic user!  I don't know how to do what you are describing in 'terminal' !! sorry but thank you for your help so far!
