Just to have a better idea of the issue you're having with this, can you confirm for me which version of the app you have installed at the moment?
You can hover over the Dropbox app in your menu bar to see this.
Additionally, is the app crashing silently, or do you get an error? Please send a screenshot if you're getting an error.
