When using dark mode on macOS Mojave, finder icons are darkened through a technique called desktop tinting. Dropbox icon does not benefit from this, so it looks quite different from the rest. A similar thing happens for some other custom icons, like those for shared folders.
Would it be possible to enable desktop tinting for those icons?

Hi, I think this is a great sugestion,
I have my Dropbox Folder in the Dock and it stands out really bad in dark mode.
Hello all,
This is a great suggestion, and one I stongly feel needs to happen. We are not asking for a grand interface change to support darkmode. I personally do not care if any charges are made to the Menubar interface at all.
We all simply want the Dropbox folder icon to support the desktop tinting that comes with dark mode in Mojave. As others have mentioned, the dropbox folder just looks out of place when the rest of our folders are tinted, and Dropbox is not. Pic below for reference.
Thanks, everyone.
I doubt Dropbox has any control over that. After all, isn't it just a folder icon like any other? Wouldn't the operating system be responsible for tinting it? I can't imagine each individual application is responsibile for applying a tint to their own icon.
In fact, I just took a moment before submitting this reply to do a bit of searching and it seems that only a specfic set of predefined folders are affected by tinting. Custom icons aren't affected by desktop tinting. This thread had some good information:
Does someone have a tinted dropbox folder icon image on hand?
+1 to finding a workaround
i just choose to show the filder as a stack and I made sure the first level of my account has only folders. than it will be tinted but you're missing a dropbox logo, it's just stacked tinted folders, but at least it doesn't stand out badly anymore.. waiting for a fix
Hi, thought I'd chime in here and say I've decided to design my own dark Dropbox folder icon. It's a bit of a workaround to MacOS's Desktop Tinting since my icon won't dynamically change between dark and light like the rest of the UI, but if you're using dark mode exclusively, this icon should seamlessly blend with the rest of them!
The Guys here are totally right...
Maybe for some people this is such a small thing without any urgency... BUT.
For designers and people who have estetic iseues haha... like me...
This is really annoying!
It actually made me move my Stuff to Onedrive instead hahaha.
