Dropbox App deleting from PC and Dropbox - Help!

Dropbox App deleting from PC and Dropbox - Help!

Hello Everyone

This is my first post on the forum, I hope I have put it in the right place!

I installed the Dropbox Desktop App on my laptop and clearly didnt really know what to accept and not accept it to do.  I am not exactly tech savvy I'm afraid.

My problem is that when I go to delete a document or file from my laptop it is automatically deleting it from Dropbox as well and vice versa.  I have tried to work out how I can stop this and cant seem to do it.  What I want is to only delete the file or document from my laptop but it stays on my Dropbox.  If I want to delete it from there, I can manually go on and delete it myself which is how it worked before.

If someone can help me on how I sort this out I would be grateful, please can you leave step by step instruction because as I said I am not very tech savvy.

Thanks very much

Hey @Simon7685, welcome to our Community!

It sounds like you have enabled the Computer Backup feature on your Dropbox application.

If you want to disable this, you can find the steps to do so in this article

Then, you can add the files you want to have in your Dropbox account, by moving/copying them to the Dropbox folder on your computer.

Let me know how it goes!
