Dropbox App opens up in Finder rather than Dropbox GUI

Dropbox App opens up in Finder rather than Dropbox GUI

Morpheus96
Explorer | Level 3

I just want to be able to open and navigate my Dropbox in their File Explorer GUI, not Finder and not the web client.

I've uninstalled the program, removed residual files under:

/Users/Morpheus96/Dropbox

/Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Applications/Drobox

/Applications/Dropbox

And then reinstalled from there. No go.

I've also done sudo update_dyld_shared_cache  in Terminal and rebooted.

Hey @Morpheus96, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

From what I understand, you don't want to navigate to your Dropbox folder via Finder, but the desktop app, is that right?

If so, you can achieve this by going to your desktop app's Preferences, clicking the dropdown next to Open folders in, and choosing Dropbox desktop app

You can find more info about the desktop app in this article.

If this isn't what you're trying to do or you have any other questions, just give me a nudge here. Thanks!

That is not available as an option for me. See attached.

Thanks for the screenshot, @Morpheus96

Could you give an advanced reinstall a shot? Maybe that will do the trick.

Note though that if you're on a Basic (free) account, there's a three device limit and you'll have to make sure that you've got less than three devices connected to proceed.

Let me know if this helps - thanks!

The install was in the default location and the commands ran without error. The option for opening with the Dropbox app still isn't appearing after the advanced install/reinstall.  Any other potential solutions?
