Dropbox app not starting on windows 10 - install and uninstall crashing

Hello,

 

a few days ago I noticed that dropbox had stopped synchronizing files. I tried to start the desktop app but it didn't work. So I tried to uninstall the app but the process wouldn't finish (see screenshot). I tried to reinstall using the the various describes methods (offline installer, run as administrator etc.), none of it works (see screenshot 2). Since I also already tried to stop all processes and services, manually delete all files and dropbox app folders prior to reinstallation, I am running out of options. I must have followed a dozen different procedures described in various forums, none of it worked.  Please help.

Can you please try temporarily disabling any antivirus you may have running and perform an advanced re-install?

Hi Walter,

 

thanks for your advice, this was it. The McAfee-Scanner was stuck checking "python-packages.zip" When I deactivated the scanner the installer completed successfully.
