Suddenly, my imac cannot initialize the dropbox app. I have done new installation of the program, I have checked for security settings etc.
It seems as if it is constantly disconnected from Dropbox Cloud and requires new link to my computer.
On my part, I have used several times a 3rd party VPN client, I guess dropbox might have identified this as a potential risk. In any case the VPN program is not working now and still I cannot connect to my dropbox and sync.
Hi @anthanton, are you getting any specific error messages when booting the Dropbox desktop app?
Using a VPN isn't bad, Dropbox does support them, however since you mentioned it stopped working and you're not using it now, it could mean that you need to change the proxy settings in the Dropbox app.
You can do this by clicking the Dropbox icon in the menu bar near the clock, then the avatar or picture on the top right, Preferences and then going to the Proxies tab. If it's on Manual, switch it to No Proxy, or Auto-detect.
It also wouldn't hurt to check out your firewall or security software rules to see if any of them are blocking the Dropbox domains from connecting, and preventing any syncing from taking place.
