Hello, I'm in trouble after upgrade to Big sur. Just re-installed dropbox many times, but the app doesn't start at the end of configuration, I get this error:

Yes, the advanced re-install I aforementioned would be the next step here @citationneeded.

Could you give it a go and let me know if you still get this error?

Just make sure to install it with admin privileges on your machine as outlined here.

I guess it's a bug due to some new feature brought by Big Sur. An update of Dropbox should come.

My bad, always comes an issue after a system major upgrade. :confounded:

Hi all; thanks for posting on our Community!

To resolve the issue could you try the following:

  1. Click on the apple icon in the top left hand corner of your screen
  2. Select "System Preferences..."
  3. Then "Security & Privacy"
  4. Select the Privacy tab
  5. Select "Files and Folders"
  6. Under Dropbox ensure all folders are checked.

To make changes you will need to click on the lock icon and enter your macOS password.

Now attempt to restart the Dropbox desktop app.

If you're still having issues after this, could you perform a clean, advanced reinstall and let us know how it goes?

Thanks for the proposed solution. Unfortunately, I don't see Dropbox as an app in step 6. Any other things I can try?

Thanks, sorry I missed that step. The advanced reinstall worked without me having to give Dropbox more access to Files and Folders.

I originally installed the non-working Dropbox by backing up my old Mac running Big Sur to Mac Time Machine then restoring that to my new Macbook Pro with Apple Silicone M1 ARM processor also running Big Sur.
