Dropbox folder contains a folder called "Search" that wont sync

Explorer | Level 3

Hi!

My dropbox folder contains a folder called "Search" that wont sync.

Drilling down, there is "Data" then "Applications" then "Windows" then 4 files that have a cross next to them:

edb.jtx

edbtmp.jtx

Windows.edb

Windows.jfm

What are these files and can I safely delete them?

Thanks

Hi again,

In this case please go ahead and contact our team so they can look into the issue a bit deeper.

Once doing so, if you want, send us the ticket ID so we can locate it and follow up.

Cheers!

The most likely reason this is not syncing is that the files are currently in use by an application.
We can't answer here if it's safe to delete the files as we can't say what you need or what they contain, unfortunately.

Closing the program that is using them should allow us to quickly grab a lock on the files and begin syncing them.

Hope this helps you.

Hi davidwalters,

Hope you are doing good.

Could you please let us know what you mean by "Won't Sync"? Are you seeing the folder on the website but not on a device? Does it show in a device but not in another one?

As a first step, have a look here and see if any of the cases applies to you.

Also, can you check to make sure Dropbox is actively running on your computer? If it is, you should see the small Dropbox icon normally.

Finally, can you check your computer to make sure that the Dropbox folder is still in the default install location or the location that you chose when you installed the Dropbox desktop application?

As for the files, they seem to be Windows created files, but an online search will give you some more answers on whether you can delete them or not.

Keep us updated! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried quitting the existing applications but I've no idea which ones are using them. They seem to be windows files. Are they some windows 10 search files?

Thanks for the reply.

I've checked all that you recommend.
I have red crosses next to the files. And when I roll over the application I get an error message. Bizarre.
