Dropbox on Win10 keeps asking for user account control permission

Dropbox on Win10 keeps asking for user account control permission

I keep getting the UAC pop up on my windows 10 PC from dropbox update. I'm on v90.3.291. I tried to update manually but it failed. Should I reinstall or is it something that is a known problem?

Thanks. I got annoyed while working last night by the UAC pop up showing up every couple of minutes, uninstalled the app and used the on-line installer to reinstall. Version I got is 90.3.292 and the problem is resolved. Should I still switch to stable version? I am fine with solving small problems every now and then.

Hi @JakubZN; thanks for the report and welcome to our Community!

I couldn't help but notice that you're running a beta version of our desktop app (these are denoted by their middle digit: xx.3.yyy is for beta versions and xx.4.yyy is for our stable ones).

Would you mind reverting to our most recent, stable one and let me know if you're still bumping into this issue?

To do this, click on you account picture/avatar (while logged in) at the top right corner of the page and then on "Settings". From the "General" tab, scroll down to the section titled "Preferences" and uncheck the box next to "Include me in early releases" if it is checked.

Then, use the following link to install the latest stable version of the Dropbox desktop application:

Make sure to install it with admin rights!

Let me know how it goes please and we'll take it from there.

Ah, thanks for sharing this update @JakubZN!

Since the beta version is what worked for you, I'd leave it be for now.

Since it resolved the issue, you should be able to continue using this version as it will update automatically to the next available build going forward.

Let me know if you come up with any Dropbox questions!
