Dropbox reinstallation - problem of number of devices

I had to have my office computer's operating system (Windows10) reinstalled due to some problems. Now I am reinstalling my applications on the machine. When I reinstalled Dropbox and tried to connect, it told me that I was trying to add more devices than my (basic) account allows i.e. more than 3. But this is not the case - I only have the Dropbox application on 2 other devices and my office computer is #3. I have tried uninstalling the application and rebooting my computer (and before reinstalling I checked for Dropbox folders in my AppData & ProgramFiles), but reinstalling it gives me the same problem of it thinking I am trying to install on too many devices. How can I solve this? Thanks!

Hey @fiona_darbyshire, thanks for joining us on the Dropbox Community!

Can you check the security tab in your account settings and let me know how many devices you see linked to your account?

Because your previous Windows might be included as a separate device, so you might need to unlink it first.

Let me know what you find!

Dear Hannah,

Thanks for your reply. The previous "version" of my office machine was indeed still listed as being linked. I deleted it, and have now managed to reinstall Dropbox successfully. Now I know what to do if I change devices or reinstall my OS in the future. Thanks for the help!
