Dropbox unexpectedly quit

I get an error when I try to open the Dropbox app saying "Dropbox unexpectedly quit. Your files are safe. Restart Dropbox..."

It started about two weeks ago (and around the same time as two other unsolved posts on the forum). 

Two days ago I formatted my computer and reinstalled programs. This morning I opened the computer and saw the same error.

Running Windows 10. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi,

It turned out to be a problem with a program that monitors software licenses. I contacted the maker of the program who produced a software update to fix it.

To troubleshoot the problem I disabled all the services then started turning them back on untill dropbox stopped working again.

System Configuration>Services>

Check Hide all Microsoft Services

Disable All

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with our desktop app on your computer. Could you give a simple re-install a go and let me know if you still get this error?

Hi Walter,

No luck with that. I got a message saying that 83.4.152 had been successfully installed.

It tried to launch then failed with the same previous error.

I see, thanks for the swift response @sgrya1!

As you're still getting the same error, I'd suggest a clean, advanced re-install at this point.

That didn't work either unfortunately.

I was prompted to sign in, the dropbox folder opened, the dropbox system tray app said it was syncing files, then after some time the same error appeared.
