DropboxInstaller.exe doesn't not start

DropboxInstaller.exe doesn't not start

Hello!
I have tried to install the new version of Dropbox on my updated Win7 Professional PC.

The program don't start. So I uninstalled the existing client program and now I am stuck paying for a service I can't use.

Fix it. Now.

Thank you.

Thomas

The solution was to uncheck the box Block Dropbox Upgrades in Boxifier. Simple. So now you know.

Seeing as the installer is working fine on other Windows 7 installations, the problem is likely not Dropbox, but something on your computer instead. You'll need to determine what, if anything, on your computer is preventing Dropbox from starting the installer.

Start by temporarily disabling any antivirus or firewall software that you may be running and try the installation again. Sometimes it's simply the security software being overly protective. You can also open Task Manager to see if the executable is actually running.

Reply back with your results.

Hello!

I disabled Norton Internet Security and the same result. I also use Boxifier, but it is not running.

The file runs up to 1512 kB with Norton on and up to 240 smth kB with Norton off.

If anyone knows a complicated registry-poking solution, please give it right away.

Cheers

Hey Thomas L.48

We can definitely help you with this issue.

Can you please let me know whether the issue occur specifically upon installing Dropbox for the first time on this computer or upon reinstallation? Also, do you see the Dropbox icon on the toolbar of your computer?

Secondly, what's the sync status that the Dropbox desktop application is displaying? You can see the sync status by clicking on the Dropbox icon in the system tray or menu bar, and then clicking on the gear icon in the Notifications panel (Windows).
- Can you also please include a screenshot and text of any error message in your reply?

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards,

JaneA

Hello! I have used Dropbox Pro for two years and this was the needed upgrade that haven't worked since it was first announced some tiome ago.

I was doing my regular backup and the Dropbox icon was present on the toolbar. It started to index and count files but then stuck on the same number of files to sync. I tried with restarting the Dropbox desktop client, but every time it got stuck on the same number of files while syncing.

Finally the upgrade message appeared and I tried to upgrade several times with no success (like previously) and then I decided to uninstall the desktop client. I tried well over ten times, dnloadong with another browser, restarting the PC and installing with no other programs open, installing as the administrator and so on. No errors messages whatsoever.

Like in my previous post, I see the installer in the Task Manager, but it disappears after a short while. So here I am, without the possibility to backup my files.

Hey Thomas L.48

Glad to help you troubleshoot this issue more!

Can you please attempt re-instralling the application once more, following the steps below:

1- Stop Dropbox by clicking on the gear icon in the Notifications panel and select "Quit Dropbox".

2- Uninstall Dropbox (if Dropbox was installed by a Windows administrator in Program Files, you will need admin permissions to remove the application)

- Click on the Start button on the bottom left of your screen, and select "Control Panel".
- Click "Uninstall a Program".
- Select Dropbox from the list of programs and click "Uninstall".

3- When the uninstall finishes, reboot your computer. This will make sure the uninstall is complete.

4- Download and install the latest stable build of Dropbox by visiting the following website:

https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Desktop-client-builds/bd-p/101003016 (Stable Build 21.4.25)

If this persists, I'd be glad to investigate that more through our Support Channel

Looking forward to your reply!

Kind regards,

JaneA

Thank you, but it didn't work. It loaded to 1524 kB instead of 1512 kB...
