I have months earlier recieved a video from friend, he had used Dropbox. I remembered it and downloaded own Dropbox to one of my PC:s also for transfer of my video document. There was a message of mistake. I tried to find what mistake and got a message that the free Dropbox was full and more space had to be bought. I had not transferred anything. I checked the contents of Dropbox and found "My PC (DESKTOP-LQVMNHF)" etc. Why, I do not know but now I wish to end my Dropbox, I cannot experiment with Dropbox any longer. I do not want to loose "My PC (DESKTOP-LQVMNHF)" from the computer, however. I hope it will work ok again after it no longer is in Dropbox. I would very much appreciate any advice from
the Community how to do the exit.

You have the computer backup feature enabled.
Earlier I assumed Dropbox was a transfer program.
Getting help from Rich, Super User II, I understand Dropbox better, thank you.
I would still very much appreciate further help to understand how to detach folders and files in one computer from
Dropbox group and how to detach a computer from the group.
The files and folders should continue as they did earlier..
Hey there @hart03!
Could you let me know a little more info about the Dropbox 'group' that you're referring to?
Are you perhaps referring to a team account or a shared folder?
You can send along some screenshots too if that would be helpful. Cheers!

Hi there Daphne,
Thank you for your message.
Dropbox group to me is the files and folders in the devices cynced in/by Dropbox.
I have a desktop for video editing and one for other communication, I make
occasional use of smartphone for photographing but talk with basic phone.
Now I wish to delete Dropbox from the "group" leaving all folders and files
and the desktops intact as they were. I would need your advice how to do this.
Is it safe to simply delete Dropbox from the programs list in one desktop?
I would be very glad to get your advice
Harto
Thanks for clarifying that @hart03!
To remove the desktop app from your computer, while leaving the Dropbox folder as it is, you can unlink the device with these steps.
Once the app is unlinked from your account and no longer syncing, you can then uninstall the app from your computer.
Let me know if that does the trick!
