Excel files @mentions not working

Excel files @mentions not working

I am trying to add a comment to a cell within excel. Although I am able to add a comment, I am not able to tag people using @mentions. When using sharepoint or onedrive I had the ability to tag people and they would receive an email notyifing them of the comment. Is this feature not available in dropbox?

Hey @guquillas, I hope you're well today!

Just to clarify, can you let me know where you're opening your document from? Are you opening the file online with the Microsoft Office Online integration, or locally on your computer?

Let me know!

I tried doing it a few different ways. Through the dropbox app, dropox online, and my computer (dropbox path).

I am not sure if I have the Microsoft Office online integration. I am going to assume yes, as I am able to open the excel workbook in an excel format through dropbox and I see the "save and return to Dropbox" option.

Thanks for getting back to me here @guquillas!

I did a bit of investigating on my side and found that this feature is only available if the file is saved within a SharePoint library or OneDrive Business. You can check this out here.

If you need to use this feature for the file within Dropbox, as a workaround I can suggest using the Dropbox commenting feature on the file preview, which will also allow you to @mention others too.

Sorry that I couldn't be of much more help with this, but please do let me know if you have any other questions about this.

Thanks!
