I have. The problem persists across all computers and browsers. I've experienced the issue on a Mac, a Chromebook, and multiple Windows PCs in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Internet Explorer from multiple locations. This seems to be a backend problem.
My name's River and I'm a member of the Dropbox web specialist team. I've been looking into this issue and it would be extremely helpful if those of you encountering this issue across browsers and after clearing your cache could provide the following in a support ticket addressed to me:
A screencast of the Network tab of the Developer view when you perform this action in Chrome.
First, you will need to follow the steps below to display the Network tab.
1. Open Chrome
2. Click on 'View'
3. Hover over 'Developer'
4. Click 'Developer Tools'
This will open a menu bar at the bottom of your Chrome browser. Once you have that bar open at the bottom select the 'Network' tab.
If you have questions about how to take a screen recording, please see the following:
In order to record the problem you'll need QuickTime Player 10.x. For instructions:
You have two options, the first one is to follow the instructions here:
If you are running Linux, please find an application to record a video of the activity on your screen and send it to me. Some Linux distros have different screen recording tools available in their default software repositories.
Please expand it to full screen so I have a better view of the issue. Please then attempt to load the folder with the files that flicker in and then out.
You will need to save the recording and then send us a link of the recording you have just made.
Finally, once you are done recording please go to the 'Console' tab and take a screenshot of any text, especially any red text, displayed there.
Once you have submitted that information please, also post an update here letting me know you've done so. This will help me quickly find your submission.
Thank you very much for your help with reporting and investigating this issue.
Hello River - I've followed your instructions below and created a recording of the problem of disappearing/reappearing folders. Let me know if there's something else I can do. Reloading does work as a temporary workaround, but the issue will reappear.
Thanks very much to those who sent in the information about the network tab and console tab. It was extremely useful. I was able to track down what appears to be the resulting issue and have reported it to our engineering team.
They are working on getting a fix out, so please be patient with us and if you can please continue to use the Dropbox desktop client or moblie app to access those files.
Thank you very much for your patience and responsiveness for this issue.
Our engineering team would like to check to see if this issue is now resolved. Would you all check to see if your files no longer flicker in and then out on the website?
Please let me know if this is now resolved.
