Getting an error 0x800b010e when installing the desktop app

I am getting this message when trying to install Dropbox on a brand new Windows 10 Pro desktop computer.  I hve read many of the forums and all of the fixes discuss deleitng registry entries which of course are not present on a new computer.  Help.

Hi there @farmersagent15, thanks for reaching out to us here!

 

Would you mind sending along a screenshot of the error that you're getting for me? It sounds like it's coming from your OS rather than Dropbox so it would be helpful to see exactly what it's reporting.

 

Also, just out of curiosity, are you running your device in Windows S mode currently?

I found a fix! not sure why it worked but it did!! When the error came up there was a blue line something about "see why you're getting this notification" or something like that.  After trying all the other tips in the various threads i've read, I clicked on that, it was at the setting in the image attached.  I reduced it down to the very bottom, tried the full offline installer and BAM! it worked!  it took me a bit to find it again but i did! (sorry, i'm super happy and thankful that I don't need to pay someone to find a fix for me!)

 

User Account Control is the setting btw!
