I have followed instructions "uninstall and delete Dropbox files"  I rebooted several times.  To no avail.

Help would be much appreciated 🙂

Hi, sorry, how did you solve it?

I migrated my PC to a different domain and I'm having the same issue. Reinstalling doesn't help and it's not getting installed at all.

Thanks!

Spoiler

Hi, thanks for your answer.

Finally, I managed to solve, it was a bit tricky!

I tried multiple reinstall, with standard and full package, all folders removal, etc... without success.

From another thread (https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-installs-integrations/Why-do-I-get-an-error-about-my-regkey/...), I realized there could have been issues in the registry, due to permissions (as my windows account got migrated to another domain and renamed).

I opened the regedit, "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dropbox" path and I noticed that there were many entries still there, even if Dropbox was not installed. I tried to remove all the "ks*" subfolder, it was working for some of them, but it was failing to remove "ks" and "ks1", due to "no rights".

Since I'm a local admin, I was able to:

  1. add the "administrators" group to the security and set to "administrators" with the full control to "ks" and "ks1" folders
  2. set the full control also for my user

Only after this, I was finally able to remove both folders.

After this registry clean, I tried again the Dropbox installation that went good and I was finally able to get the app working again.
