Have not received free space for downloading dropbox to my computer

I have been using dropbox to back up my university work since I spilled a bottle of water over my laptop last year. I as soon as I got my laptop back I downloaded dropbox. I have recently run out of sapce but cannot afford to pay the monthly free for a premium account, so I am trying everything to get more free space. I have dropbox downloaded onto my computer but it is not registering that this is the case on my "list of things to do to get more space". I have tried downloading and reinstalling, updating and unlinking and relinking my account with my desktop app and nothing has worked.

If you’ve tried relinking your account to the desktop app, can you please ensure that you’ve tried signing back in with the relevant email address?
 
You can check which email address you’re currently using to associated with your Dropbox account by checking:
