I can't find the gear icon within the desktop app, any help?

And failing that, perhaps an uninstall and reinstall of the client, which will also get you on the latest version if you don't have it already.

Thank you, Rich. Ctrl and click makes no difference, so I'll adopt your other suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling. The only thing is that the reason I need to access the settings is that the sync process has swamped my C drive, so I need to set up some kind of selective sync. At present, my C drive is virtually full. If I uninstall with a view to reinstalling, is there a danger that I'll be permanently stuck with all those dropbox files on my C drive? I am very grateful to you for your patience, by the way. Tom

No. If you reinstall you'll still be able to use Selective Sync (assuming it fixes your missing gear problem). The only thing I'd be concerned with is being able to reinstall the app if your disk is literally that full.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem as I am experiencing exactly the same issue as Tom.T.

I've installed Dropbox onto my daughter's new laptop which uses Microsoft 10. I am unable to access selective sync as the gear icon is not visible.

Please help as it's driving me nuts - I'm pretty good navigating around laptops and applications but this is crazy....

Hi I just upgraded to Captain on my iMac and have the same problem--cannot delete the dropbox app.. There is no gear icon as you can see in my screenshot. I cannot drag it to the trash as it says it is open. Please help!

Try to install to an updated version of Dropbox:

www.dropbox.com/install 

You shouldn't need to worry about uninstalling etc. it should just do it
