I cannot install desktop app of dropbox

Explorer | Level 3

I am a paid Dropbox user, but I find that I could not install the dropbox desktop app on Macbook Pro ( with Mojave version of OSX ). What's the problem with the installation? It shows download failed after long time. I am based in west coast of US and I am already using the fast internet. Is Dropbox server down or the installation link expires but you still keep the previous dropbox download file on your website?

Hey there @kylezheng04,

Thanks for providing the error log above! From what I understand it looks like your Home directory is “locked”. Please can you do the following steps to fix this:

  1. Right-click on your Home folder → /Users/{your username}
  2. Select "Get Info" from the menu
  3. Uncheck the "Locked" checkbox.
If you have certain folders intentionally locked, then after doing the above you can go ahead and re-lock any folders within your Home directory that aren't the Dropbox folder.

Let me know how it goes - Cheers!

What about from www.dropbox.com/downloading

Or using the offline installers from https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Desktop-client-builds/Stable-Build-72-4-136/m-p/343374#M5265 ?

Thanks.

Here is the error message:

Couldn't start Dropbox.

This is usually because of a permission error. Storing your home folder on a network share can also cause an error.

Well, I did not do that.
