I can confirm, from 2 different computers with this same issue, that your suggested fix does not work

I am currently in contact with an "Advanced Technician" from dropbox via email, I will let you know what we figure out if we ever figure it out.

Nope, still nothing, it is not an issue with the host file.

Hello everyone!

You will want to use the Dropbox for Gmail extension from the Google Workspace Marketplace:
https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/dropbox_for_gmail/33761876029

This will put a blue Dropbox icon in your Gmail to use instead of the gray one you have been using.

The gray Dropbox icon should disappear, but in case it doesn't, disconnect 'Dropbox for Gmail' from the Dropbox Connected Apps page

This response is a little insulting.  This is the extension that doesn't work!

I never had a grey icon?  Mine has always been blue.

Please advise

thanks

Grey one is for 'normal' users downloading what i'm assuming is the consumer version of Dropbox from the Chrome Web Store.

The link above is a Google Workplace Marketplace - sounds like a different tier. I've uninstalled the 'consumer' version, and added the Marketplace one. It works for me.

The blue Dropbox icon is closer to the right side of the emails or on the right bar in my browser for my Gmail atm.
