I'm having trouble disabling computer backup as I can't access the desktop app preferences.

Daphne,

When I click on my initials, I only get a larger version identifying me by name and "Owner". No menu with "Preferences".

 

This is a serious fail by Dropbox. This "backup" option is very invasive; my laptop has been captured by Dropbox. Delete Dropbox and lose your files. I tried to NOT sign up for this option.

Hey @AmExpat, thanks for reaching out to us here!

 

It sounds like you might be looking at a different location here. You should be clicking the Dropbox icon in your system tray/menu bar, next to your device's clock display and Internet connection symbol.

 

If you're still not seeing the options mentioned in the steps to disable the backup on your computer, please send me a screenshot of the options that you're seeing.
