I'm having trouble with syncing locally on my Ubuntu

I have two clients on the same subnet, both 10.10.3.x. Both clients are running ubuntu, and both clients show LAN Syncing enabled in preferences. 

Both clients sync fine to and from the internet, but when attempting to have local sync work, I don't see the bandwidth from client a to client b, I see wan traffic down at the maximum speed of my network provider. 

What am I doing wrong?

As a first step, could you let me know a few pieces of info to make sure that I have a solid understanding of what you're seeing? For example:

• Is syncing from computer A to B slower than B to A, or in general slow? 
• Have you tried changing the syncing speed by changing the bandwidth settings from your desktop app? 
• Do find that syncing slows down with specific files by any chance?
