Re: Stable Build 81.4.195

Helpful | Level 6

I run Dropbox as a service using AlwaysUp.  v81.4.195 will not run.  I get the following error in Session 0:

"Failed to create OpenGL context for format QSurfaceFormat(...)...."

I have verified that the ANGLE Open GL ES 2.0 libraris (libEGL.dll, libGLESv2.dll, and d3dcompiler_*.dll) are available in the applications executable directory.

v80.4.126 will run.

Add me to the list of users with AlwaysUp and having a problem. While we know what DB's Stand on Service based installs is. we feel this could use some help since there is a large portion that relies on this to work.

I tried the above steps, but it did not solve the issue.  Still getting the OpenGL error when AlwaysUp trys to start Dropbox.

I have updated graphics drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled hardware via device manager.  Tried the latest stable build. Still no luck. I really don't understand how the GUI will crash like this. Seems poorly coded to say the least.

Dropbox support recommened that I rollback to 80.4.126.  I did that, but almost immediately Dropbox updated to 81.4.195.  Is there a way to prevent the update?

Hey peeps, thanks for your updates!

I recently followed up on our communication via email, did you receive my reply @Redfish5?

Also, we don't currently have a way to disable the auto-updates so I've made sure to pass along your comments to your open ticket with our specialists @rxnavy. They will assist you further with this and the error that you're receiving.

I hope that this helps - thanks!

For those scratching their heads trying to resolve this OpenGL issue running the latest version of Dropbox + AlwaysUp I have successfully resolved this issue by following these steps (after all the guidance in this forum failed to fix my issue):

1. In the Windows start menu enter the search term "environment variables" and select "Edit the system environment variables"

2. In the dialog that comes up click "Environment Variables" then click "New" in the system variables section.

3. In the dialog that comes up enter variable name = 'QT_OPENGL' (without the quotes) and variable value = 'software' (without the quotes)

Click "OK" then "OK" then "OK" to close the system properties dialogue.

Restart Dropbox within AlwaysUp and you should find the OpenGL issues are resolved if you view through session 0 and Dropbox will be synchronising your files fine.
