Just installed Dropbox on Mac running MacOS 11 and the menu bar icon is grey with an "X" in it. This icon is NOT listed in Dropbox's description of various icon states. What I see looks disabled but I'm not sure what it means:
Also, in a Finder window's toolbar the icon is a question mark (?):

It seems like you're having the issue described in this thread; could you take a look and confirm if that's the case indeed?
Does the question mark you're seeing there persist after rebooting your computer?

The linked thread applies only to OP's first problem. I have the second problem: the Dropbox menu in the Finder toolbar has a ? icon rather than the Dropbox icon since I upgraded to Big Sur. I downloaded and re-installed Dropbox, and then rebooted, but that did not change anything. Any suggestions? Thanks,

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm having hardware problems and will probably have to take my computer in for repairs. I'll follow your suggestion when I get the computer back and let you know how it goes.
