Hi..

 

Thanks for looking...

 

I collected my new Surface Book from my employer today... I have been made an administrator on the computer. I tried to download Dropbox, but when the installer is about halfway through, I get a message "setup cannot copy the file DbxSvc.exe"

It gives me the option to find the file manually, but even when I do, it gives me the same error...

The path for the file is ....C:\ xxxxx\Dropbox\Client_80.4.127\80.4.127\driver_amd64

If anyonce can help, I'd very much appreciate it.

Hey there @campbeda,

When you get the error message during installation, within the dialogue box do you see a blue hyperlink? If so, please click on this to open the full error log and paste the contents into your reply.

If not, could you please send a screenshot of the error message that you're receiving? 

Finally, can you let me know if you're running your device in S mode at all?

Let me know what you find and we'll go from there!

As far as I can tell, it is not in S mode...

This is the error....

C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client_80.4.127\80.4.127\driver_amd64

Thanks for that @campbeda, the error message looks strange indeed! :thinking:

Could you just try and download the installer again for me from this page here and run the installer, seeing if you run into the same error again?

Hi Daphne...

Thanks for that link... tried it, but unfortuantely, it has goiven me a new error! "The installer encountered Error 2"

Hey @campbeda, thanks for that info!

I'd suggest ensuring that there's no record of the Dropbox folder or settings by following an advanced reinstall (you can start at step 4 since you don't have the app fully installed yet).

McAfee is installed... and I can see some blocks from today... so I think it's stopping the communications...

Can't access the settings unfortunately... it is a company wide protocol.....

Might have to use the app wothout Selective Sync (which is the best thing!!!)... 

Thanks anyway..

If I downloaded the file onto a USB, would that work as an installer??

Hey @campbeda, thanks for the additional info.

As a last attempt, can you just try using our offline installer from here? If that doesn't work then we can always move over to our Support channel and have one of our specialists assist you with this.
