Is there a way to disable the shell icons on Windows when running the desktop app?

Is there a way to disable the shell icons on Windows when running the desktop app?

I am a developer, I have other software (TortoiseSvn) that uses shell icons .

I manually remove DropBox shell icons every time I update Dropbox: On PC, On Notebook, On Work PC, on other notebook...

How to completely disable the shell icons in Dropbox so that it never restores them during installation and updating?

Reg path with shell icons:

HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers

Hi @ytd, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

Although there's no option to disable overlay icons completely, you can have a look at this thread where this was previously discussed.

You can also check out this one, where this is proposed as a feature other users want to see implemented in the future, where you can upvote and comment on.

In the meantime, if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to get back to us. Cheers!
