I installed Dropbox using the deb on the download page a few days ago on a new install of Lubuntu 16.04
The tray icon doesn't do anything at all.
I have tried these versions:
The only one that works correctly is 3.12.6
Screenshots from 3.12.6:
Screenshots from 3.19.34:
Unfortunately, this is a bug that dropbox has known about for __months__ now, and has resolutely ignored any reports of it.
I would note your disappointment in their "community" survey here: https://www.dropboxforum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205453733-How-was-your-experience-on-the-Dropb...
3.12.6 is the only version working here with tray icon.
And now I see at startup a window which wants to update the dropbox client to be able to use it in the future.
I can't do so, because the icon disappears again. If I click Cancel, Dropbox quits.
Hi @Klaus P. I think the dropbox applications is now adopted to support the KDE 5 systray which is not compatible with KDE 4. I use Majaro linux 15.12 with KDE 5.6 and systray icon works great.
Im not an expert in KDE 5 so i might be wrong but the latest version of dropbox works for me.
Hi@kiran kumar s.
Maybe this is the reason.
But OpenSuSE 13.2 and KDE 4 is not yet outdated, I think. So the Dropbox-Team should not drop the users of KDE 4. And as minimum service, we should be able to use an older version in the future, too. To stop this via the popup window update or stop using dropbox is not an acceptable behaviour - for me.
So I will drop Dropbox. Sorry.
